Donna Lomelino is an outreach worker, community health advocate, and writer based in Illinois. Her work has centered on walking alongside individuals experiencing homelessness, often in environments where there are no clear solutions—only presence, consistency, and trust built over time.
Much of her writing comes from these real-life experiences. Rather than offering instruction or easy answers, Donna writes from a place of observation and lived understanding—focusing on what it means to stay, to listen, and to recognize the humanity in situations that are often overlooked or misunderstood.
She has worked closely with individuals navigating addiction, mental illness, and housing instability, and has seen firsthand how systems, policies, and real life do not always align. These experiences shape her voice, which leans toward honesty, restraint, and a deep respect for the complexity of people’s lives.
